Small things that please you and bring a smile to your face.

Recommended Posts

Was wondering what kind of simple pleasures please you - just odd little things that happen during the day, some of mine are:-

the smell of freshly laundered sheets and pillowcases when I get into bed at night -

the sight of the colourful finches at the bird feeder -

when it was snowing I liked seeing one of our neighbours with a small child being pulled along on a tiny sleigh all bundled up against the cold -

again, seeing a fresh fall of snow clinging to the branches of the evergreens -

Anyone care to add a few?

What a lovely thread, momac, thank you

Seeing little children having fun in mud or puddles and their parents letting it happen

The very first hints of green on bare branches in the Spring

Old couples holding hands when they are out together

The smell of coffee first thing in the morning

Liked your 'pleasant' thoughts GH especially the little children having fun in the puddles.  :)

Top of my list has to be seeing my two granddaughters holding hands in the Easter Bonnets parade this weekend

Seeing the first flowers of spring

Watching the array of colour in the sky as the sun sets

The line of tulips, about to open their pretty heads to the sun, in our front garden

Watching my two sons sitting at the lunch table this weekend (they don't get together often now) seemingly talking their own language.

Waking up to sunshine

This Easter I loved seeing our grown-up kids and their partners searching for eggs while going along with RG's egg hunt followed by the boys watching the footie together while the girls had a good natter in the kitchen!

Visiting both sets of parents with our daughter and boyfriend knowing that the three generations could still have a good laugh together!

Flying over a springtime England in the early morning after our holiday and remembering just how beautiful our home is. I love to go away but I love having my home to come back to!

Days off with RG even if we do very little.

Waking up and greeting my wife in the next bed.

Better still: Waking up and greeting my wife in my bed!

Watching the little vixen from next door as our several years older daughter follows her lead with dazed eyes (that girl is the only one who is able to command our daughter like that!).

Last night sitting in bed reading my book while RG read his. All we could hear was the rain pouring down outside. Just lovely to be warm and comfy inside!

Walking to the hairdressers this morning in the fresh air after last nights rain.

Looking out of the kitchen window this morning to see the small tree we planted last year full of pink blossom for the first time. Magic!

Someone cooking for me.

My dog smiling at me when I come down in the morning.

Our wisteria flowering for the first time ever.

Driving to our local town - the beauty of the view often makes me catch my breath.

Chatting to the OH over meals, after 31 years he still makes me laugh.

Turning on the computer and seeing all the lovely things that please people - especially since it is a dull and dreary morning with the rain but the grass and the flowers need it - we really have a wonderful world.

Our dog Charlie just scampered up the stairs to greet me, that makes me smile. :)

CP - she's only five foot so she's small and brings a smile to my face!

That is being size-ist RG. If it were not a back-handed compliment I am sure that I could get you banned for that one!

Hearing a song that brings back memories of happy times

My dog sitting next to me on the couch with her paw draped over my leg

Warm and cozy inside while listening to the rain outside (which we don't get very often in Phoenix)

Seeing a beautiful sunrise or sunset (which we do get a lot of)

Memories of my mom and I traveling in Spain and Morocco

Reading a fabulous book!

Momac, you always come up with such lovely threads. Thank you.

- waking in the morning with electricity and water both working

- the Heuglin's Robin whistling for no reason whatsoever

- the whisper of white wings as a skein of egrets flies overhead at sunset

- checking BGO in the evenings

- chimpanzee laughter

There's a woodpecker that often visits my garden - I get so happy when I see him.

That's funny, because I go crazy when I see a woodpecker. They put holes in my house!

The dawn chorus very beautiful. Twice this year lovely around 5 this morning

Wish I knew the different bird call. One a few and then glorious bedlam.

A little finch/sparrow? sits on the roof next door and trills/whistles. Makes my morning :)
