I loved the Mr Men books as a child. We've just started reading some of them to daughter #3 and this morning I got to the end of Mr Messy for the first time in many, many years. Although the illustrations are familiar and the style pretty much as I remembered - forever in my mind voiced by Arthur Lowe - I had forgotten the ending of this particular book. And the adult me isn't wild about the moral of the story, which seems to be, "Keep your room tidy, or expect to be bundled into a van by a couple of borderline OCD chaps..." :-S

Very funny!

The Language Dept. at my teenage kids' school set them the task of creating a Mr Men or Little Miss book in Spanish. This meant writing an original story, illustrating it and producing a finished copy. Two of my kids have done Spanish and had to do this and absolutely loved doing this. As teenagers they could see how to bring out an adult slant in a kids story to keep the adults reading it amused. I loved it too.

I was lucky enough to find a whole collection of Mr and Miss books at a book sale. My first boy was born in 1984, the last girl in 2001, we've been reading these books for quite some time!
