The Eventful Life of Nathaniel Dale

This was one of the books I found on the bookshelves of 'The Warren House' (a Landmark Trust property) on a recent weekend away.

Nathaniel Dale worked on the Kimbolton Castle estate for two periods during the C19, at one time being responsible for bringing the rabbit population down to manageable proportions, so has direct connections with The Warren House, or at least with the rabbits that used to live in the environs, and the castle it overlooks.

From the publisher's notes:

...this is an historic book with numerous typos or missing text;  it is not indexed or illustrated.

The book was created using optical recognition software. The software is 99% accurate if the book is in good condition...

,,,and sometimes all or part of a page is missing from our copy of the book...

...we apologise and gratefully acknowledge Google's assistance"

It was a fascinating read because of  Nathaniel Dale's connection with the place we were staying, although at times a little confusing as the anecdotes and biographical details are  somewhat disjointed.

I certainly learned more than I thought possible from this book, and others provided, about the management of rabbits kept for food and fur in artificial warrens during past times.

When you start a new thread there is a box to list tags in, at the end of that box there is another, little, box where it says something along the lines of 'tick here if you want the first tag to appear as the prefix'.

As long as the first tag entered is the author of the book the index will show the book with the author's name (as a tag) ahead of the title in the index - which is probably our best way of linking authors to books at the moment.

Brilliant, I'll bear that in mind. Is it a good idea to put this info somewhere in Board Business so everybody knows how to do it?
