New board, new group read?

Recommended Posts

Just that really: maybe we could start deciding on another group read now, so that it's "all systems go" when the new board is in place?

Yes!

I've been waiting and so let us begin planning.

Out last group read also coincided with the last chosen category. These were...

2011 1st read - novels written between the two world wars

2011 2nd read - no theme

2011 3rd read - crime fiction

2011 4th read - no theme

2012 1st read - travel writing

2012 2nd read - no theme

2012 3rd read - biographies

2012 4th read - runners up in all the above votes

I think, if you are all happy, that we should have a vote on new categories once we are on the new site.

I propose that our first read should be on the subject of renewal, rebirth, starting over, etc. Hopefully that remit is loose enough to allow some interesting suggestions. I'll open a new thread for nominations soon if everyone approves.

What do you think?

And if you have any suggestions for the future of the group, please post them here.

Ha, great - I was thinking "rebirth" theme too! I have some ideas for nominations, will have to get it down to just the one for when the thread is opened ;-)

Cracking choice. Very fitting indeed.

The book I am reading now deals with those issues and is a very entertaining read as well. "The Golem and the Jinni" by Helene Wecker. She's a new writer and American, so I'm not sure the book is available in the UK. Can someone check?
