In 1987 Jeff Connor, a newspaper journalist, was allowed to accompany a new British team on the Tour de France. ANC Halfords were a new team that had managed to get an invite to the tour despite their lack of experience.

The book follows the team through the tour and provides an insite into how the tour worked and shows how even a badly organised team like ANC Halfords (which went bust during the tour) can still get five riders to Paris.

The book was first published in 1988, has been out of print for a while and has now been republished.

This is supposed to be one of the classic books about the Tour and while it is interesting, for me it lacks depth. I wanted more, lots more. If you are intersted in cycling and can get hold of a copy cheaply then do so. But don't pay full price for it.
