Lulu
'Ex-CID. Ex-New York. Ex-cellent' reads the sign outside the Satisfaction Guarantee Detective Agency. Cephas Buthelezi certainly talks the talk, Precious discovers, but would he have the wherewithal to deal with her current case - a man who has been attacked by ostrich rustlers, and is eager to reassess his life? Meanwhile, there are difficulties at the Tlokweng Road Speedy Motors, where one of the apprentices has discovered the Lord, problems at home with the mysterious death of a hoopoe, and romantic complications when Mma Makutsi sets up a typing school for men . . . <iframe width="120" height="213" scrolling="no" frameborder=0 src="http://rcm-uk.amazon.co.uk/e/cm?t=bookgrouponli-21&l=st1&search=kalahari%20typing%20school&mode=books-uk&p=6&o=2&f=ifr&bg1=C6EFF7&lc1=082984<1=_blank"> <table border='0' cellpadding='0' cellspacing='0' width='120' height='213'><tr><td><A HREF='http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/redirect-home/bookgrouponli-21' target=_blank><img src="http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/G/02/associates/recommends/default_120x213.gif" width=120 height=213 border="0" access=regular></a></td></tr></table></iframe>
Lady Lazarus
Are the books in this series any good? I see plenty of people reading them on the train to work, but haven't actually picked one up...
JWill
This series is fine if you want a light read with an overall positive world view - a bit like Miss Marple in an exotic setting i.e. Botswana so an easy read on the tube. Bigdogmonty
This is the fourth book in a series of six. They are in order... The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency, Tears of the Giraffe, Morality for Beautiful Girls, The Kalahari Typing School for Men, The Full Cupboard of Love, and In the Company of Cheerful Ladies. READ THEM ALL in sequence. They are written in a very distinctive and original style, lots of humour, great characters, and will transport you into a different world
Barbara
Are the books in this series any good? I see plenty of people reading them on the train to work, but haven't actually picked one up... Charming. Easy, different - Radio 4 serialised it one week too. Once I went through an African period and read lots of books by African writers, the style is very similar in its simplicity.
Julie
It's interesting that I've only read two books out of the top fifty--this one and The DaVinci Code. I could argue that I just don't follow trends, but it really just means that I'm clueless. This book was charming, if slight. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone since it was definitely not deep or innovative. But the characters are very attractive and the writing style is distinctive and pleasant. Much better than The DaVinci Code! Julie
