What song are you listening to... right NOW?

Recommended Posts

Just listening to the radio: Judy Teen by Cockney Rebel, has that been a long time, I think I still was a teenager back then.

From the wonderful Big Big Train's recent album "English Electric Part 2", this is "Swan Hunter" (as in shipbuilding not poaching).

Nice, but I was hoping JB would let rip at some stage...!

This is one of those unknown bands from the late 60s early 70s that never made it but really really should have done.

This is a stunner.

Bachdenkel - "Come All Ye Faithless" from their debut album, "Lemmings". The whole album is just great.

Never heard of Wallenstein until yesterday - a German Kraut-to-Prog-to-Space-Rock band from the 70s.

Absolutely exceptional - just on my 3rd of their albums (petered out after the 4th by the reviews I've been given) but this is just wonderful stuff.

Track 1 from their debut album, Blitzkrieg - "Lunetic"

John Rutter's For The Beauty of The Earth,  because it was the last song my choir sang at this afternoon's rehearsal and it's now stuck in my head.

Was just listening to Gloucester Cathedral choir singing "In The Bleak Midwinter" - had cathedral choirs up on Youtube - could indulge myself in all my favourite hymns which don't seem to get used nowadays, everyone seems to be into the guitar and contemporary music - just not my choice at all. :grumble:

I had to share it with you, I don't remember when it was the last time when I got so crazy about some music. :D For a week or two, I'm listening to the same songs. I got some modern music from the former Yugoslavia countries. The songs are really... playing with my soul, I think. Especially the ballads. I think some of the magic is in the languages. They're also in the Slavic group of languages, like Polish, just different branches. I can kinda understand them a bit, but it's still "foreign". I put some of the songs I like in a post on my blog. http://forculturessake.wordpress.com/2013/11/13/currently-listening-13-11-2013/#more-339

"Crying" by Il Divo with Rebecca del Rio on DVD - (of course, I'm old enough to remember the original by Roy Orbison!) What makes it so special is that Rebecca del Rio, whose version this is, was unable to be with them (Coliseum, London), so she was pre-recorded and played in in the middle.  Brilliant bit of sound tech!

I am listening to Lorde's Pure Heroine just now - it is fantastic, just beautiful. To think this girl wrote and produced this album herself at 17 is quite incredible. I think I am at my 6th run through just now!

Listening to a song called Ghosts On The Boardwalk by an American singer/songwriter I have just discovered called Dave Hause.  Downloaded some of his other songs at the same time (while I had a 14 day free trial on an e-music site!) and really like him.  Read that his music could be seen as being influenced by the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and Jackson Browne, so right up my street, make no mistake.
