Titles That Are Also Sentences

Recommended Posts

Yeah! As we've seen there are quite a lot of musicals, films and songs which have sentence titles (pretty much anything by Burt Bacharach, for example*). Books makes it more of a challenge. But you don't have to follow my thinking...

*I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself; There Is Always Something There to Remind Me; Do You Know The Way to San Jose; What the World Needs Now Is Love; Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head; That's What Friends Are For; Only Love Can Break A Heart; Make It Easy On Yourself; (They Long to Be) Close to You, I Say A Little Prayer; A House Is Not a Home; This Guy's In Love With You; I'll Never Fall In Love Again...

They Came From SW19 - Nigel Williams

I suppose, as this is in ABB, the film/musicals/song titles should be allowed, and the book titles disqualified :D

True! Then it's all chuntzy's fault for starting a thread about book titles in ABB! :P

I took part in a parlour game. We had to think of book titles that were proper sentences...

Let's just stick to books and films. I agree that allowing song titles makes it too wide-ranging.

As do I, though ironically John is the only person who's given some!

Still, I'd add that musicals probably shouldn't count either - I used Tell Me on a Sunday more as a response to Meg's bringing some good connectedness to the responses, and I'd already used a stage play so it didn't seem too cheeky, but sure - just books and films.

The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon - Stephen King

The Way We Live Now - Anthony Trollope

Would I be right in saying that neither of these qualify, for the reason given on p1? The Girl Loved Tom Gordon would be fine. 'The way we live now' feels like a sentence that's been cut off halfway.

What is your joker, JS?

Er, I hadn't worked it out that far. Just trying to sound like it's a real game show... :o

Surprised "We Need to Talk about Kevin" hasn't appeared on this thread yet.

It has, he pointed out childishly and pedantically.
