Awaken the Giant Within

Recommended Posts

I'm almost wincing as I post, because I know not everyone likes this author---

however, I've found some terrific nuggets in this book in particular---like asking myself empowering questions, and regarding my darker emotions as action signals, and recognizing that I can control my mindframe.

This book is--well, empowering.

I don't watch Robbins on his infomercials so my take on him is based solely on his written work.

has anyone else got an opinion on this?

I think it's a really interesting read, and it's one of those books I often refer back to when I need to 'check myself out' on a low day ;)

If you want the real essence of yer man Robbins, it's worth taking in one of his weekend seminars. He is the ultimate live performer par excellence, and I know of no one else that can keep thousands of people entertained for 3 days at a stretch.

His strongest points are the 'emotions as signals for action' and his work on beliefs and values and how we are driven by them (when we often didn't create them, our primary caregivers did). When we know how to catch ourselves in destructive patterns, and then rebuild something positive to replace them, it can be very liberating.

Surely this is one of the few books that one could truthfully describe as lifechanging. :)

I would echo Lulu's remark about actually going to a TR seminar.....I did and it was one of the most amazing experiences I have had.

The audio tapes/cds of TR books are very good too; the charisma and conviction of the author come across very well.
