  1. 'Nana, your face needs ironing!' 'The nativity play's off Miss - the Virgin Mary's got nits' 'When you're dead, Grandpa, can I have your watch?' 'When I was little, I thought that God was like Captain Birdseye without the fishfingers' Young children are nothing if not honest, and their honesty is invariably disarming and comical. Who better to discover their innermost thoughts than best-selling author and former school inspector Gervase Phinn? From his lifetime of school visits, and talking to parents and grandparents, Gervase has put together a delightful compilation of children's wise words, insightful observations on life and their amusing comments about others. <iframe width="180" height="180" scrolling="no" frameborder=0 src="http://rcm-uk.amazon.co.uk/e/cm?t=bookgrouponli-21&l=st1&search=Little%20Gems%20-%20Gervase%20Phinn&mode=books-uk&p=33&o=2&f=ifr&bg1=C6E7DE&lc1=082984&lt1=_blank"> <table border='0' cellpadding='0' cellspacing='0' width='468' height='362'><tr><td><A HREF='http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/redirect-home/bookgrouponli-21' target=_blank ><img src="http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/G/02/associates/recommends/default_180x180.gif" width=180 height=180 border="0" access=regular></a></td></tr></table></iframe>
  2. Any fans of Gervase Phinn out there? I've read or listened to nearly all his books and seen a couple of DVDs of his shows with my children. He is a great storyteller and has so many anecdotes of children's and teachers' humorous antics etc. that my daughter always asks if he is telling the truth as they're so funny. If you haven't experienced him then may I recommend 'Gervase Phinn Live - Tales from the Dales' or 'Gervase Phinn Live Again - A School Inspector Calls' DVDs or his CD 'Gervase Phinn - In A Class of His Own'? Any of these would make great Christmas gifts too for anyone who has children, grandchildren or loves children. Because of him, like his audiences, I now remember how to spell diarrhoea!!!
