I hope that those of you who have given up on this remarkable novel will give it another go. It will be well worth the effort if you do.
Adichie is a natural story-teller who has recreated an important moment in modern African history - Biafra's struggle to establish an independent republic in Nigeria in the 1960's. The story evolves through five main characters from diverse backgrounds. Their experiences take the reader on a journey through this difficult time. It is a thoroughly absorbing novel and would be a worthy prize winner.
