  1. Years ago, I met Billy Bragg. He was a truly lovely man, very friendly and happy to chat. I also used to do dance and drama classes with Suzi Perry (sports presenter, and now presenting The Gadget Show) when we were both teenagers.
  2. Well, I am trying not to buy any new books in 2009 (by which I mean that second hand ones are fine). However, before the new year I ordered The Witches of Eastwick, by John Updike from Waterstones, and picked it up on Saturday.
  3. Thanks David (I'm supposed to be working at the moment - don't tell anyone)!
  4. I enjoyed this book, although it took me a while to get into it. However, Based on this book, I would check out more by the author.
  5. I know I've been a member for a while, but I'm reintroducing myself, since it is so long since I've posted. I'm currently reading Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets, by David Simon (which spawned one of my favourite tv shows of all time) - it's absolutely gripping! Looking forward to mooching through the threads and getting re-acquainted with the forum
  6. I read this last year, and it was the first one I had read by this author. I liked it, but I have since read Fingersmith, which I preferred.
  7. I read A Short History... last year, and was distinctly underwhelmed by it.
  8. No summer holidays away for me, but hubby and I are off to Rhode Island and New York in November. Highly excited!
  9. I can't remember, but I'm guessing it was http://www.jeffbridges.com
  10. I bought this recently. I read The Colour, by this author last year. It was good, but I think this one sounds more enjoyable.
  11. My copy had a sticker on it as well. I hate those Richard and Judy stickers - in fact I hate any stickers on the front of a book.
  12. It was the cover that made me buy it! I'm a sucker for attractive covers. I have had it on my tbr pile for ages now, and really must get round to it soon.
  13. It is Levi's sauce that they are using, apparently. I really enjoy Dragon's Den, and Levi is one of the most memorable people ever to appear on there. The sauce is really nice!
  14. Thank you It's nice to be back.
