The Luminaries and The Scorch Trials
  1. I saw Divergent today. I could not get on with the book at all, but the allure of Theo James, possibly topless, was too much to resist. It was good, actually. The whole conceit of people grouped according to 5 personality traits didn't seem as silly and the romance was a subplot rather than a focus. No Hunger Games, but several cuts above Twilight!
  2. Oooh, well if you get round to reading it let me know. Curtis Sittenfeld is doing P&P, but no news on anything else that I've seen. I'm less apprehensive about that, possibly because I've seen more versions of it that Northanger.
  3. Oh I'd very much like Claudia Winkleman. Everytime they announced Bruce was taking a night off we cheered!
  4. I was just wondering if anyone has read either of the two so far released books from The Austen Project? http://tinyurl.com/yb63h8yy I'm apprehensive, and haven't picked either up yet. For some reason, while I don't mind people messing with film versions, I feel a bit queasy at the thought of someone messing with the book!
  5. Hello! I'm new! I'm female, Scottish and have a job with rubbish anti-social hours so I'm hoping this site will fill the book group shaped hole in my life! I'll read most things although I'm not a big fan of crime or horror. Favourite authors include Iain Banks, Ian McEwan, Jane Austen and Juliet Marillier. I love a good YA or some historical fiction, particularly 20th century. Can't think of anything else particularly interesting to say, so I'll go have a good browse round the threads!
