  1. When I was a teenager, about 30 years ago., I read a series of novels about a Tang dynasty judge in China written by an author with a Dutch name. Since my father, the only other reader of these I have come across, died over 15 years ago I don't know who I can ask. Can any one help me?
  2. Birdsong - Sebastian Faulks The Shadow of the Wind -Carlos Ruiz Zafon Poisonwood Bible - Barbara Kinsgolver Brick Lane - Monica Ali The Diving-Bell and the butterly - Jean-Dominique Bauby The definition of favourite being telling everyone, including strangers in bookshops."You must read this!"
  3. If you like Lindsey Davis try Steven Saylor. A bit more "serious" but lots of detail.
  4. I wanted desperately to find anything else written by him but to no avail. It just evoked Barcelona so well. The writing was fantastic and you could feel the weather, if that makes sense.
