  1. Happy Birthday Kim!! I hope you had a good day. It was my birthday yesterday!
  2. At school, we had to read 'An Inspector Calls', Romeo and Juliet and 'The Lord of The Flies'. Then for drama, we studied/performed 'Twelfth Night' and 'A Midsummer Night's Dream.' All of these I enjoyed, but the only things that I can remember disliking, was having to learn great chunks of 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner' by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. I would probably enjoy reading this poem now but at the time, I hated it.
  3. I want to join your course! I love all of Roald Dahl's books, because of his imagination and quirky style of writing. However my favourite Dahl book has to be 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'.
  4. I read the first Falco book and really enjoyed it. However, I was really disappointed with the follow up novel and didn't read anymore. In my opinion, Davis wasn't able to successfully weave the historical information and action together, as effectively as say, Philippa Gregory.
  5. I prefer 'Compare the Market' and before christmas and I also liked the advert for Gordon's Gin, which had Gordon Ramsey being showered with gin and ice cubes.
  6. I actually really don't like this advert. It's really creepy!
  7. I have had a lazy day today. At the moment, I'm catching up on what has been going on on the board whilst I wait for the results of 'Dancing On Ice' to start.
  8. Hi aussiema welcome to the board! There's no need to be nervous, everyone is really friendly here. I'm sure you will find some great suggestions as to which classics/modern books to read on the board.
  9. Over the first bank holiday weekend, I've enjoyed watching the first series of 'Downton Abbey' on ITV. I have found this programme to be addictive and I loved Maggie Smith's character. I can't wait for the new series in the autumn!
  10. I would like to read a few classics this year and also to cover some books by authors I'd previously never heard of.
  11. I had a wander around a Medieval Market that has been set up in the centre of town. Then, I had planned to read this afternoon, but was sucked in to watching tv.....must really stop watching so much!
