Have held a long standing ambition to become a writer (either plays or musicals (with an element of dance in them) or maybe a short film script), but I'm struggling with the idea of just sitting down one day and just doing it.
Does anyone have any idea's about the best way to begin..i.e. to write a short journal (daily) to get into the habit of writing, thoughts..potential ideas...etc? Any thoughts would be most appreciated. Thanks.

The best thing you can do is just write. If you've got an idea, put it to paper. You'll find that once you get into the flow of it, you won't be able to stop!! :)

I'd go with that - some days it just flows and flows, some days you struggle to write anything. That's just how it goes with this creative spark thing :)
As my own experience shows, it may take you a long time but if the idea doesn't go away then it's worth staying the course. The ease of self-publishing proved to be the final spark to get my work out there for others to read at long last.
Hopefully the next one won't be as long - already started on it ;)

I wish you all the best with this BJ.
I tried my hand at script writing but I just couldn't get my head around it.
Make sure you always carry a notepad and pen around with you and just write, whenever, wherever the idea comes.
Ask yourself these questions.
Where would you want the play/musical set?
What genre would it be? Horror, thriller, comedy, romance?
You could even try your hand at writing a couple of songs and see if that gets the juices flowing.
Best of luck.
