Sorry, this is in the wrong forum, don't know how to move it!
Have just noticed that we have some 'Senior' members.
How are they different?
It's not the date they joined, nor the number of posts they've made, nor the number of referrals they've introduced.
If the people who were on board at the very beginning, before Christmas, don't qualify, who else can be called 'senior'?
I am intrigued!
Perhaps its the amount they've spent on books via the links from this site :D

Don't worry, megustaleer, I've moved it.
It's one of the things I can do, and another is set the parameters for 'New Member', 'Member', 'Senior Member' etc.
Everyone who joined before February 1st 2005 had their status amended by me to 'Founder Member'. Anyone who joined on or after February 1st goes through the ranks, as it were:
New Member - under 10 posts
Member - between 10 and 99 posts
Senior Member - 100 posts and over
So 'Founder' indicates how long they've been here, 'Senior' is all about number of posts. I agree there's a slight contradiction, and if someone wants to suggest an alternative to 'Senior', I can consider it. Although it seems worth acknowledging any member who's made over 100 posts despite having joined after February 1st.

How about 'Established Member' although I'm not really bothered either way. Incidentally this is probably the best organised forum I've been on, if you'll excuse the creeping.

Thanks for the explanation, Bill. Thought it might be numbers until I discovered that Harriet had nearly 400 posts to her credit, but wasn't a 'senior'. (Don't suppose she'd want that particular title, anyway!).

Not much, no. ;)

Is it sad how chuffed I was to move up from 'New Member' to 'Member'?! ;)
Harriet

Not remotely. I was ever so delighted when I discovered I was a Founder Member...

And I will forever be slightly jealous of the Founder Members! :p

Tee hee we are very superior and elusive.
I've never actually known what elusive means, but I like the sound of it and use it a lot. Mostly in the wrong context, I'm guessing.

Hee hee, I don't know if you are elusive but at least you've used the right kind of word... my boyf tries to use 'countenance' all the time after I made him watch Pride and Prejudice too many times, for example 'This TV programme is very countenance'! :D
With every post moving closer to Senior Membership...

Haha.....well you will be rather superior (and also maybe very elusive) when you reach Senior Member :D
Cathy

LOL, I will try to be as elusive as possible if I reach that level of superiority then! Why isn't there a smiley for sweeping your cloak over you shoulder in a Spanish-Inquisition-esque fashion?!
Harriet

Yeah! I would love that smiley! Oh well I'll have to stick with
*sweeps cloak over shoulder in a Spanish-Inquisition-esque fashion*
Yes, I think all senior and founder members should all try their best to be elusive.

So long, comrades!

Ahh, until that time I will have to stick to

I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition.
I just hope they don't introduce a 'Geriatric Member' for those of us who are no longer employed (or, in my case, employable !) :D

I stumbled onto a forum today and they has their members ranked as bronze, silver and gold which I thought was quite a good way of doing it. When I first saw a senior member I assumed they has something to do with the running of the forum!
Just a suggestion!

Oh come on! We're not first year juniors. Why are we grading people at all?

I agree! Categories create separation and can be intimidating to newer members.
