Hey, i'm very new here so i thought i'd kick things off with a recommendation, I noticed this book called Rainbows is being talked about around the internet so i went to check it out. it was cheap enough for me to buy on a whim, and i have to say i'm impressed! its a romance between two peopel suffering from cancer, trying to make the most of the life they have left.
It has some beautiful imagery and full-bodied characters with buckets of personality, so i thought i'd attempt to share it with you all :)

Funny. I Googled this book and couldn't find a single reference. Where is it being talked about all over the Internet JulieDee?

Well for starters, Steam and Facebook, which is where I found out about it.
I also saw a post on legendfire that the author herself made.
I just posted because I thought other people would be interested in this book and I have to say, as a new user of the site, I rather feel under a great deal of suspicion, I thought this community had a reputation for being friendly and accepting?

I guess I came across as a bit abrupt. It's just I wanted to find out more about the book because neither the Amazon entry nor your first post gave enough information for me.

Okay well dont worry :)
Like i said i haven't finished it yet but here is what i can tell you so far:
It seems to be quite heavily told from inside the mind of the main character Chloe who struggles to accept the fact that she has been diagnosed with a potentially deadly illness. It's been marketed as a romance but its certainly not a generic "chick-lit" style affair. It has some very poignant observational material, akin to that of the descriptive side of the great Stephen king. For example the opening chapter (in which the diagnosis is revealed) is set in the consultants office and throughout it, the main character notices things in the room, which she painstakingly describes to deliberately distract herself. It also appears to have a dual storyline, rather than the traditional one-mind romance style.
The only thing i will say is that it can be a little slow in places so far, but i suppose that all depends on what kind of reader you are.
I think the reason im excited about it is that it seems to have alot in it to make you think about the situation, instead of just yet another mindless romance.

I can't find it on FB.
Released yesterday, only on Kindle, by the author herself (according to Amazon).

I have to say, as a new user of the site, I rather feel under a great deal of suspicion,What! Because one person said they couldn't find it listed on their browser?
Well, your reaction has made me suspicious, particularly as your post is phrased just like so many we get from newly published authors and their friends and family.
We are perfectly happy to host such promotional posts in 'Writers Corner', but only if the poster is open with us about any personal or professional connection with the book.
Also, we do not allow sales links other than ones that go through our own hyperlink to Amazon.co.uk, as commission on sales made that way is the only way, other than subscriptions, that we have to defray some of the costs of running the site. For that reason I have changed your the link in your OP to the BGO/Amazon one

Well i was told about it by a group of my friends who had heard of it because it used to be up on a site called authonomy, and its now apparently spreading through word of mouth. I've only heard about authonomy today but i guess it must've been popular to already have a few people talking about it.
Currently i'm engrossed in it so i guess i will listen to my friends recommendations more in the future lol :P

So, not on FB - I checked and no hints as to how to find it were forthcoming - and there is one thread on authonomy, by the author herself announcing publication and two congratulations. It was released on Friday 21 October so I'd just love to know how many people were actually talking about this, because my search engine turned up only the Amazon Kindle reference.

Gosh, all this vague provenance makes me really want to read this book.

Hi JulieDee,
Come on, let's be honest here.
Just on the level of human behaviour let's think about this. The book is only released on Friday. On Saturday, before you've even finished the book, you join a book forum to tell us all about it.
People really don't do this. They join a forum because they want to chat about books. People don't go out of their way to go through the process of signing up to a forum because they have a pure, unadulterated motive to share a new book they've found with the world. A book they haven't even finished yet.
When people join a book forum they look around and make some comments on books they've loved and read, join in some discussions. They don't rave about a self-published book which came out the day before. And I've had a pretty good look around and failed to find any of this wave of talk around the internet. It has one like on the Amazon page.
Thing is, Julie, we get a lot of this - we're really familiar with the pattern. As meg explained above, we're happy for authors or their friends and relatives to tell us about their books, but we like it to be open and honest and placed in Writers' Corner.
The clincher, I'm afraid, is that your email address from a quick search seems to suggest you're related to the author. So I can understand your desire to let people know about this book. However, people get annoyed when they feel they're being deceived - it's much better just to be honest, then this sort of thing won't happen.
If I'd come across this last night I would have deleted it and sent a private message to explain, but since so many people have contributed to it now I'll move it to Writers' Corner. I don't think a thread like this does the book any favours, so if you'd prefer to make a new post in Writers' Corner with an open promotion stating your connection with the book I'll delete this thread.
