Her is how it works. I iwll start off with the beginning of a story. You then follow on with your idea of what happens next & so on. add as much or as little as you like

She came from the sea hoping to find Rupert by her towel. It was he who had beckoned her form her daily swim. But as she neared the man she felt a tingle down her spine. It was not Rupert at all but a man looking very much like him showing a black wallet with a badge displayed in the crest of the Local consatbulary. "Detective Sergaent Haines Miss, Can we have a chat?"

As she looked at him through eyes blurred by sun and salt water she wondered how she had ever mistaken him for Rupert. This man had an aura of control and strength that Rupert never had. She tried not to blush, aware of how little she was wearing and hoped that he could not see her fear. After all no mortal could know her secret.

"Why have you come here to disturb me" she said unable to keep her now clearing eyes from his dark brown eyes. "Are you the owner of the blue Ford escort HAH128S?" He replied.

"Why have you come here to disturb me" she said unable to keep her now clearing eyes from his dark brown eyes. "Are you the owner of the blue Ford escort HAH128S?" He replied.

‘You know I am - you're internal security after all’. Look what do you want. As I remember it I’m supposed to be on holiday and you’re arriving here doesn’t bode well for the rest of it. What’s with this plod act?’

He half turned away from her and looked out across the bay. ‘It’s Rupert’ he said. ‘We’ve had a tip off. He’s the one that’s been leaking information to Peta about the companies working with us.’

"Rupert, are you sure? I find that hard to believe", She thought about all the hours they had spent together and tried to see how he could have decieved her.
"The tip off was from someone you know well, are YOU sure that you know Rupert?"
Her mind was racing, who did she know who also knew all the facts and who would be in a position to implicate Rupert. Then another thought struck her, if this was true was she under suspicion too? She had spent more time working, and playing with Rupert than anyone.

She became aware of the sputter of a helicopter as it circled the beach. People scattered, snatching their clothes and running towards the carpark. The helicopter hovered and landed dangerously close to them. The doors opened and a a figure dressed entirely in black descended and walked towards them.

"My God - Simon Conifer!" she exclaimed. "The whole regiment thinks you're dead! But - how..?"

Conifer consulted his watch idly and gazed at her through the hue of russet sunglasses. "Ha - let them think it, why don't we?" His lip curled into a disturbing arc. "Rupert's ours now..." His black jacket fell open to reveal a shirt bearing the familiar crest. A seagull swooped, causing Amy-Lyn to gasp out loud.

Conifer turned and faster than the eye could follow his revolver blasted the sea gull out of the sky. There was an ear shattering explosion as the radio controlled sea gull bomb detonated over the sea.

Languidly he turned back to her. Always remember the motto ‘Not by strength by guile. You’re to carry on – you haven’t seen me I’m still dead.'

Shaken and stirred by the trust he had in her she got out her mobile and dialed a number.

But even as she dialled Seargeant Haines who had been standing quietly by reached out and took the phone from her hand.
"Dead or alive, Conifer is no good and you know it. Rupert, well Rupert was a different thing altogether." He smiled at her, a slow disarming smile that somehow she didn't quite trust.
"and as for me....." with that he tossed her phone casually in the air, caught it again and gestured back to the shore "now's your chance to find out and to find out the truth about Rupert and Conifer if you have the nerve that is......"
He turned and walked away and unwillingly Amy-Lyn found herself scrabbling to pick up her clothes and follow. Only the closest of obervers would have noticed the flash of irridescent green at the base of her back as her bikini slipped.

Amy-Lyn reached back until she felt the green irridescent label. She had completely forgotten to remove it when she put on her new bikini. She just hoped none of the men had noticed. She did like to appear appropriately dressed for any occasion. Damn, she couldn't tug it off and she certainly hadn't time to undress. Quickly she tucked it into the brief bikini pants and prayed that it wouldn't be too uncomfortable, she was in enough trouble as it was. She wondered what Conifer would think about her lapse.

She felt even worse as she climbed into the car sticky with salt. "can I at least shower?"
"not if you want to get on with this, best I can do is a service station wash and freshen, have to do you"
Amy-Lyn was about to answer when the roar of the helicopter drowned out anything she was thinking.
She slumped in the seat, warm and sticky yet cold to the core. If Conifer was alive and Rupert a traitor what was she?

Amy-Lyn born as a silicon chip was a cyborg in deep denial.

The love making carried on through out the night & as the new day arrived she knew that Rupert would never touch her in those places that made her squirm & buzz with pleasure.

Indeed, that no-one ever would! She could put on an act for her lovers, but deep inside she remained frozen. Was there no-one who could thaw her heart?

The feeling of lonely desolation found Amy-Lyn recalling that final year at St Pygmy's. The endless hours laughing and throwing chocolate spread about in the dorm with Candy and Dolores; those stolen moments lichen-swapping in the woods behind the games field with Eamonn O'Webster, her relief biology master; the prickle of embarrassment she felt at her friend's cheap 'relief' jibes; the dinners - those frightful meat-pancake dinners! Oh, it had all been so different back then.

Now, here she was, holed-up in Stoke Newington with little more than Keith, an intelligent urban fox, for company...

Except that, round the corner behind the Defoe Garage, her mini was being accessorized for her encounter with Conifer. It wouldn't be long now before she could make her escape and enter the world she had been trained for.

She looked at Rupert lying beside her. How she wished he would return home. Inwardly, she cursed his orange pyjamas.

At the window, Keith peered in at them, his growing lupine jealousy barely perceptible in the early morning mist. The calm was then broken by the deafening din of a giant spanner being hurled in disgust at the Defoe garage...

...which exploded, raining pieces of customised mini over a surprised suburbia. Sadly for Keith, the newly installed heat seeking missiles were set on 'vulpine attack mode' and the furry uban warrior was doomed.
The next morning, Amy-Lyn woke and stretched, enjoying the early morning breeze. Slowly she became aware that something was wrong and opened her eyes to see the sun poking through the clouds overhead. There was a discreet cough behind her and she looked over her shoulder to see a policeman waiting patiently in the ruins of the house, something small, dead and Keith-like in his hand. He coughed again and held out the sad remains.
"Is this yours, Madam?"

Amy-Lyn wrinkled her pretty nose in disgust "errr yeah, I think" she mumbled as she looked up at the policeman. Sergeant Smith shuffled his feet nervously, there was something about this woman that wasn't quite right, he usually had a sixth senses for these things and the alarm bells were currently sounding. Amy-Lyn looked into his eyes and felt something lurch in her stomach...

... she was definately going to be sick.
"S'cuse me," she mumbled as she staggered for where the bathroom used to be. Sergeant Smith averted his eyes as the inevitable happened. He wondered when the woman would notice he hadn't called the Fire Service out. Probably not much longer. It was a shame to waste such beauty but he had his orders and he wouldn't get a better chance than this. Sighing, he reached inside his tunic for the silenced automatic and aimed it at the target's retching back...

As he raised the gun, Seargeant Smith caught a flash of orange in the scrap of mirror left hanging over the wash basin. 'Oh no you don't' screamed Rupert as he leapt with a mighty kung fu leap and kicked the gun out of his hand. Sergeant Smith gazed at the orange pyjamas in amazement. Amy-Lyn turned, a trickle of vomit on her chin. Suddenly the orange pyjamas seemed strangely endearing. But how had Rupert escaped the blast? Did he have special powers? What was the significance of the colour orange?

Just then, there was a knock at the door...

belinda

The proprietor of Fawlty Towers stood there. ‘Message from Sibyl, Could you keep the noise down , oh and by the way some tree fellow was on the line – kept saying conifer at 12.00.’

He turned and left

Slowly Sergeant Smith turned to look at Rupert – the orange overalls, the android plus a fir tree. Was he supposed to be saving the world from global warming, Al Qaeda or the invasion of the body snatchers?

Conifer looked anxiously at his watch. Only a few seconds until midnight. The helicopter sat on the firm damp sand, and the tide was coming in. Was Amy-Lyn going to be on time? Indeed, had the message reached her?
That idiot of a hotelkeeper might have got the message wrong, and told Amy-Lyn mid-day, not midnight.
Or maybe those phony police had caught up with her again. Who knows what information Rupert is able to pass on to them now he has conned his way into the girl's bed.

As he pondered on these possibilities, Conifer heard the distant sound of an engine...but it didn't seem to be coming from the coast road.

Flingo 3rd April 2006 07:01 PM

He wandered to the window - and sure enough, the engine was coming across the field behind the hotel. It was a funny time to be threshing, and the driver didn't look much like a farmer.

As the figure parked the tractor under the giant oak tree in the corner of the field, he recognised Amy-Lyn's familiar figure - her blonde hair shining in the moonlight. How many times had he told her to wear a hat to these rendezvous?

He had no time to lose, so he grabbed the remains of his room service meal and his apache [sic] case, and ran from the room. As he slid down the banisters, the main entrance doors opened. He landed at Amy-Lyn's feet.

With a loud 'Whoop' the Apache jumped from behind a tree.

Swiftly he grabbed the case.

'Mine, I believe' he said in impeccable English.

Conifer and Amy-Lyn stood aghast. They glanced at each other. Amy-Lyn nodded. Conifer stared for what seemed like a long while at the Apache. Somehow, his buckskin clothes, his soft moccasins and his red and white headdress did not seem out of place in this moonlit field.

'Do you have the instructions?' asked Conifer.

'Of course' replied the Apache 'I am to take the case to Our Leader as soon as I can. '

Conifer glanced at Amy-Lyn again and when he looked back the Apache had disappeared with the jewels.
