And the winner is...
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffnegger, with 40.74% of the vote.
Very close runner-up, Saturday by Ian McEwan, with 33.33% of the vote.
So what I thought is, why don't we do both? What do people think?
Those who want to read and discuss The Time Traveler's Wife can do so too, and those who want to read and discuss Saturday can do so too, and then everyone will be happy (except the 14.81% who voted for The Count Of Monte Cristo and the 11.11% who voted for Small Island).
Barring objections, I will set up a forum for each book in Book Groups. I will set up links to online bookshops so that users can buy each book through us. It will help us greatly if you can do this, as running this site costs a lot more money than it brings in, and you will find a much lower price online than in, say, Waterstones.

Sounds good to me Bill.
I'm in for The Time Traveler's Wife..............only because I've already got so I won't be able to use the link this time but I'll bear it in mind for the future!
Who else is up for a discussion on this one?
Would it be a good idea to set a timescale for when we want to start the actual discussion? - give people time to get a hold of a copy and actually read it!

I'm also up for reading the Time Traveler's wife, although I'll need a few days for my book to arrive before I can start reading. Maybe we could leave it a week before we start discussions (?) - although I'm completely new to this so I don't really know what's usually done. I'm open to any suggestions other people have!
Thanks Bill for sorting all this out, you're a star.

I'm planning on reading both. I've skint, so I've ordered them from the library, (sorry, Bill ;) ) so which I read first, and when is rather dependant on when they turn up there.
Happy to turn up and join in with ongoing discussions, once I've read them. Trying very hard not to go and read what is already there....

beachmama, you seem to be getting mixed up between the two book groups operating here. This is hardly surprising, as there isn't a thread actually entitled 'BGO Bookgroup', and there has been some cross- referencing by various posters between the two.
The Sea The Sea is being read and discussed by the BookCrossing Book Club, along with A Short History of Nearly Everything and The Great Gatsby. To join those discussions you need to go to the BookCrossing Book Club sub-forum. (To avoid getting lost use the 'Forum Jump', click onto 'Forums Home', and scroll down until you see 'BookCrossing Book Club').
The BGO Bookgroup is only just getting started. The books chosen are 'The Time Traveler's Wife', and 'Saturday'. To get information about the BGO Bookgroup you need to find the 'Bookgroups' forum, (Where we are now) by using 'forum jump', and 'forums home' again. When you get here look at the various threads, and hopefully, when a decision is finally made about timescales, you will find out what to read and when!
It looks as though the BookCrossing Book Club has insufficient participants to continue with a second selection of books. Unless there is a sudden upsurge of interest you probably ought to stick with this one.
With no nearby bookstore, Bill would no doubt advise using the BGO link to Amazon to get your books!

"as there isn't a thread actually entitled 'BGO Bookgroup',"
Well, I thought there wasn't! I also thought I'd checked to make sure....must be going mad!
