As subscribers will have seen in their e-mail today about the Canongate Read, BGO's finances still remain in a poor state. Whilst many of you haven't encountered Bill, he remains the owner of the site and has lost money on it every year. He hasn't used the site in some time but still strongly believes in it and doesn't want to see it close, which is why he absorbs the loss.
Nevertheless, that's not a situation that can continue forever and we're looking at various options at the moment. This is part of the reason why I used the e-mail to remind subscribers about using the Amazon link for Christmas shopping - it really does help!
But shortly after sending the e-mail I had a reply from Radders who said she was going to raise her monthly contributions to BGO.
I felt it was very important to say a public thank you for that. You're a star, Radders! Such donations are crucial to keeping BGO alive and I am enormously grateful to everyone who makes contributions beyond their basic subscription fee (for which I am also very grateful!).
I don't actually know what people give unless they tell me, but to everyone who does, thank you! This is very much the lifeblood of BGO and you all should feel proud of helping to keep it here.
