I would like to put this forward as 'possibly most useful cookbook ever written'. The author is the Evening Standard's food writer.
It's not just a book on how to cook potatoes on their own (although every conceivable method is given in numerous different ways), but also full meals, snacks, side dishes and some quirky oddities too.
Every time I open it I find something new I want to make! Great value for money and very practical.

I believe this is the book you're referring to. My wife has it and absolutely swears by it. We also have this one:
