Hi everyone,

As promised here is the poll for choosing our first "meeting" date.

I love the poll, very cool graphics :) yllus have you made a thread in the Bookcrossing chat forum to direct people to the new poll? Some people may not check in here thinking things haven't gotten this organized yet :) Putting a link to the poll might be a good idea too with the date the poll ends. My apologies if you have already done that and I have missed it :)

I'm on holiday February 1st (going skiing, jippeee), so February 15 would be better for me. Otherwise I'll pop along at a later date and see what the book's gonna be.

But a question. As I understand it the deal is that we discuss the first choice online. How's that going to work with people in different time zones, and online at different times of day? Or for 'meeting date', should I be reading 'that and the few days after'? Or am I just getting everything mixed up here?

I was thinking that we all make book suggestions before then and then on that day we vote on those selections to choose the 3 finalists. I would suppose after that we would read the book by a given date and post our opinions online here in the section already made for that purpose, checking periodically to see what others have said and commenting on it. It is quite impractical to be here at the same time. I don't know if yllus had other ideas?

DJ since your going to be away on the 1st and that may end up being the meeting day I think it would quite alright for you to vote the evening before :)

How about two days before, as I leave the 28th :)

Your other remarks on the discussion dates are okay by me. Now I'll pop off to see what my choices will be.

I hope people will start entering book choices now, we may need some time before the meeting date to see if the books offered can be found at a library or a thrift store etc. before we choose the one we want to vote for.

DJ I have no problem with your 2 days before vote, doubt anyone else will either :)

Sorry for the delay (I'm spanking myself), I've just been frantically busy. I also hope some more people will enter stuff. Otherwise we may have to give it a little more time, these things sometimes take some time to grow. And if all else fails, the two of us can bicker for a while until we find a few books we both want to read, and then have endless discussions about them :D

The Hitchhickers Guide to the Galaxy.

Very open to other ideas though :p

How long to read and discuss a book? 30 days? 45 days? Please post your thoughts here.

I choose 5 weeks as I think that's long enough for most people to read and discuss one book. One week to purchase/borrow the book and 4 weeks for reading and discussing. Perhaps others need more time?

I agree to the five weeks, that sounds very resonable.

I've been truent in my attendance here, I'm so sorry. So, is the Great Gadsby the choice of most?
