Anyone like the Doors here? Found this clip from the new Classic Albums DVD online:

I like how they tie Break on Through to bassanova roots. Anyone planning to get it?

Yes, yes!! Big Doors fan here. There are my husband's favourite group as well. I have seen them twice, with Ian Astbury singing. I thought Ian Astbury did a fantastic job under the circumstances, but I wish I had been able to see them with Jim singing (difficult, because he died before I was born).
Thanks for the link - yes, I will probably be getting that.

Yeh, The Doors self titled debut album is an absolute classic - a perfect combination of psychedelic blues/rock!!!

Really random way of coming to like them, but I did after hearing their one of their albums which was given away free in the Sunday Times. New they existed, but didn't know much of their stuff before then, but now I really like it, and want to hear more.

Helenoftroy - would you be named after the John Cale album, perchance?
By a coincidence, I was listening to my two Doors albums (The Doors and LA Woman) at the weekend and was struck by just how unusual and distinctive the sound was. More bluesy than I remembered and JM did have a powerful voice. But he seemed a bit too knowing - far better when people with charisma act as thought they don't know they do. The Mr Mojo Risin refrain in LA Woman was squirm inducing - like when authors include themselves as characters in their own books or people tell you what their own nickname is.
