Hello,

It's hard to take it all in, but the earthquake followed by the tsunami in Asia is the greatest natural disaster of any of our lifetimes.

Some people may want to help but may not be quite sure how. Sensibly, a lot of the charities and relief agencies are working together, so there is one main appeal: the Disasters Emergency Committee or DEC. Britain's people has already given £45 million, but however much we give it won't be enough - but that shouldn't stop us trying.

Here is the direct link where you can donate money securely online:

www.dec.org.uk

Alternatively, you can phone 0800 60 60 900, and donate that way. There are also forms you can fill in in national newspapers if you want to pay by cheque.

When you do, please remember to tick the box that allows the charity to reclaim the tax on your donation.

Thank you.

Not wishing to take away anything from www.dec.org.uk, you also may wish to know that amazon.com more recently amazon.co.uk are accepting donations to the Red Cross via there websites - you can donate as easy as you buy your books, ie with one click.

Just thought I'd bring this to the top again, in case some people haven't noticed it.

At school we're having a week of fundraising events, such as people having 3-legged days etc......just wondering what other people were doing for fundraising?

I don't know how many of you listen to the radio during the day, but until 6 tonight all the UK commercial stations have joined together and are broadcasting the same shows with various fundraising things for the Tsunami appeal - well worth a listen!

I completely forgot about it until this morning when my radio alarm went off (I have it set to Virgin) and it was a woman speaking instead of the usual two guys....I was all tiredy and confused and then remembered. My friend said her mum wakes up Classic FM and was rather shocked to be hearing Maroon 5!

I thought it was a really great idea, and all the things on ebay as well. When last checked the most expensive thing was Brit Awards with Chris Evans for something like £23,000.....
