Hello,
It's hard to take it all in, but the earthquake followed by the tsunami in Asia is the greatest natural disaster of any of our lifetimes.
Some people may want to help but may not be quite sure how. Sensibly, a lot of the charities and relief agencies are working together, so there is one main appeal: the Disasters Emergency Committee or DEC. Britain's people has already given £45 million, but however much we give it won't be enough - but that shouldn't stop us trying.
Here is the direct link where you can donate money securely online:
www.dec.org.uk
Alternatively, you can phone 0800 60 60 900, and donate that way. There are also forms you can fill in in national newspapers if you want to pay by cheque.
When you do, please remember to tick the box that allows the charity to reclaim the tax on your donation.
Thank you.
