View Full Version : Avatar Graveyard

I thought it would be a good idea to split the posts we had on the Avatar Admiration Thread into their own affair so there's a quick 'n' easy place for nostalgia!
These have been my previous incarnations!

I did try to shrink a cropped version of my own Simpsons avatar a while back but he didn't work out - some of the lines in drawings go very wonky when you change the size.

Perhaps it's time to set up some avatar graveyards!
These have been my previous incarnations! Thanks for that, David. I was only thinking yesterday that I wished I could remember folks' 'old' avatars

Having only been with BGO for 5 months I do not yet have an avatar graveyard. I do however have a folder in my document with potential future pictures. I like to collect them!

I'm loving all the new avatars, too. It might even inspire me to retire ol' Salvador...
It worked too!
I'm too dim to do this pictures business, and I've no longer got some of the images I used stored, but I know in the past I've been represented by:
Stewie from "Family Guy"
Dr. Zoidberg from "Futurama"
Wally from the "Dilbert" cartoon strip
Marvin the Paranoid Android from the movie version of "The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy"
Salvador Dali
and now, slightly appropriately, Kyle, the Jewish kid from "South Park".

I've had at least one avatar before
http://www.chater.demon.co.uk/boyatbooksmall.gif
which could easily be me 30 years ago (holding a copy of the Beano) but I like Bagpuss and will stick with him for the time being

I think you'd better, Mark, or else we'll all have changed wholesale! Even Meg's changed now! It looks like it's still on the Quixote theme, though - am I right, Meg?

I've previously had a record label (Techniques Records' "Double Barrell" by Dave & Ansil Collins), and Roland from Marvel's Dark Tower graphic novel -and for more than a year, a Union Jack with the word "READING" on it. Oh, and some horror picture I found somewhere on the web.

Goodness, I am away for the day and everyone seems to have changed avatars.
I felt like that last week - teach me not to log on for days on end!
Radders, I've been here for yeeeeaaaarrs, and I've only ever had 2 avatars - the current one: (caricature me here for posterity)
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i175/pink_flingo/HannahCaricSmall.jpg
and my "Flingo":

But now even meg has changed I'm going to put my thinking cap on to see if I can come up with something new....
[ETA on 31/10/08] and I did...this was my Christmas avatar for 2007:

I made that post quite a while back, Meg! You briefly toyed with something else Quixotic - a line drawing if I recall - but it was very short-lived!

I don't remember seeing that post before, it may be one of the ones I missed when catching up after my holiday...Yes, I changed my avatar to Sancho Panza for a few days

I'm ripping through them at great speed... I get sick of wearing the same thing every day! Here are some of my old ones,

For my current avatar, I was going to use this -- but reconsidered and edited the image,

Love this one, K I like that image too, but the book in her hand is not really the first thing you notice about her.

Even though I've been a member for quite a while now (Dec 05), I haven't changed my avatar since I still like it and it sort of represents a former me (coudn't find one of Helga [Hagar's wife] reading which would be more appropriate now). :)

Inspired by another recent spate of avatar changes (particularly like Radders' Einstein), after 6 months faithful service, Kyle has been allowed out for a game of Kick The Baby, to be replaced by another modern Jewish icon.

Thanks for reminding me about this thread, David.
I've only ever had 2 avatarsActually think I've been a little flighty this year, having used:
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i175/pink_flingo/Wormellavatar.jpg (by Chris Wormell)
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i175/pink_flingo/floweravatar.jpg this after it (one of my holiday photos)
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i175/pink_flingo/librarynoseavatar.jpg to follow (from Adventures of a Nose by Vivienne Schwarts and Joel Stewart)
and this as my current one:
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i175/pink_flingo/FoodArtAvatar.jpg (another holiday snap)
Plus the Xmas 07 "Dance of the Snowman" now added to my old comment.
Must be time to change as the Food art has been around since June/July...

Several people recorded their old identities in the Avatar Graveyard (http://www.bookgrouponline.com/forum/showthread.html?t=3939) if you want to see who or what we've been in the past. Thanks David, these are my previous incarnations. I think I started with something else altogether but I can't remember what it was.

The nose came back, but then was affected by "cold", so had a festive mouse:

from The Church Mice at Christmas by Graham Oakley
and now require some Peace at Last in 2010:

Will be going through my own photos again soon, to find something more personal.
