Dr. Strangelove

This doesn't neccessarily have to be a film in the cinema, just the last one you saw.
Road to Perdition
Story: I thought the plot of this was confusing at first, but then when I got into it, it was really great. I haven't seen any other gangster movies, so I'm not sure how good it is compared to Godfather or whatever. A
Acting: The acting in this was good, and Tom Hanks was great too, I've never seen him acting as a shady guy before. The kid was less annoying than some kids in movies (Jurassic Park to name a few). B
Overall: I think this movie is worth seeing, it certainly doesn't just concentrate on gun culture, it's also really about mentality too.

Yeah I know I'm about ten years too late, but I'm not really a film buff. The acting was good (Tom Cruise + Gene Hackman), although the film was at 2 and a half hours long a bit lengthy for me. After about 2 hours I started getting twitchy! The story was ok, a little cheesy in places... not sure if it'd make me want to read any of John Grisham's books, but as they say the books are generally better than the films.
Overall, I'd give it a 6 out of 10.

The Incredibles (!)
It was okay, but I think I would have found it better if I was a 9 year old boy. Which is understandable, as I don't think they aimed the film at someone like me.
Only 5/10 then.

Recently rewatched both the X-Men films (xmas gifts), and thouroughly enjoyed them again. The first is a great introduction film, setting up the character stories, and giving us a little history of the X-Men. It also contains some great set-piece sequences. X-Men 2 is a superior film, with some more rounded characterisations, and a much bigger story. Plus, we get to watch some very attractive people running around in tight leather suits, what's not to love.
Watched Legend again, yet another pressie. Tim Curry plays the devil deliciously sexily I must say.

I got My Fair Lady for Christmas, and really enjoyed it. I like films like that, my all-time favourite film being Singing in the Rain. I thought Audrey Hepburn was great, she has such a pretty voice (even when she's faking a cockney accent!)

Saw this at the cinema a few days back.
Bill Murray does Bill Murray, only in a red bobble hat on a boat, as a Cousteau type figure chasing the shark that killed his best friend. Fine supporting cast too - Anjelica Huston, Jeff Goldblum, Cate Blanchett, Owen Wilson.
The film seemed largely to be quirky for quirkiness's sake - acoustic performances of David Bowie songs in Portuguese, the uniforms, the retro styling. I can do odd but I can see this film would not be to everyone's taste.

Hi
Saw this last Sunday and really enjoyed it. It's about two guys in California going on a pre-wedding wine tasting week away. I really liked the character played by Paul gambetti. A disatisfied high school teacher trying to make sense of his life. The other character was a bit of a 'Jack the Lad' who was an excellent 'foil'. Lovely scenery and loads about wine. Funny and touching.
I was planning on going to see 'Shall we dance' or 'The Life aquatic' this Sunday but can't decide!!!!

Finding Neverland
Watched this last night, really enjoyed it. Johnny Depp just gets better as he gets older, and his Scottish accent was ok too. I liked the fantasy scenes in it, brought the film to life.
I also watched Bent last week, for film studies, it is about the oppression of gays in Nazi Germany. Clive Owen was the main character. Loved Mick Jagger in drag at the begining of the film.

Ocean's eleven (2001)
I love this film! Definatley on my favourite films list, slightly behind Great Escape and Singing in the rain. The plot is fantastic and complex, the acting is superb! Plus it has the two best looking guys in Hollywood, Brad pitt and George Clooney! An improvment on the 1960s version. Even though Frank Dean and Sammy were funny and charasmatic. That one is great becasue of nostalgia too.

Constantine , i've declared my love for the Hellblazer comics and the character of John Constantine elsewhere on this forum, and also my worries for this film. The number one being Keanu Reeves playing the blond, cockney(based on Sting looks-wise) JC. But.....it ain't all that bad. Well, if you don't know the comics inside out, it isn't. Taken on it's own it's a good little religious horror-type film, the kind of dark movie that Hollywood only produces every now and then. Keanu Reeves is as wooden as ever, but i feel we're coming full-circle with the pleasing on the eye Keanu and now instead of looking at his performances with abject derision and total scorn, we've developed a tenderness for his perseverance in the face of severe lack of talent, kinda like the kid at school who was rubbish at cross-country but would always get the biggest cheer as he panted over the line a 1/2 hour after everyone else had finished. Or maybe that's just me....
Good film.
