Totally agree - this is one of the all-time great rock 'n' roll reads. Savage (who himself was once 'bike-chained' by the odious Sid Vicious) leaves no stone unturned here in his dissection of the environment - both musical and cultural - that led to punk 'happening' on both sides of the Atlantic. And the account of events leading up to the Chelsea Hotel incident is about as grim as it gets...
