I, Deinonychus, thoroughly recommend this fascinating scrapbook of early Sixties popular culture and the music scene, compiled by the man probably best qualified to write it. While I've never been a massive Rolling Stones fan, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and no-holds-barred storytelling of 'Stoned'. There's no particular bias toward his own band - Oldham knew everyone and loves, lives and breathes the world in which he works. (I'm shortly to embark on 'Stoned 2', so more on that in due course...)

Interesting. I managed to pick up Andrew Loog Oldham's intrumental and orchestrated versions of Rolling Stones numbers (as I believe they know in those days). Worth listening to, if only once. At least you realise where The Verve got Bittersweet Symphony from.
