As many members are such regular posters I wondered what you did with all that unexpected spare time  My PC was in for a health check so I was unprepared for the lack of BGO when Igot it back. What with 2 snow days and half term I haven't had as much free time as usual to view the site but breathed a huge sigh of relief when I found it back today. Especially as I had recommended it strongly at the first meeting of a new reading group at my local library.

So what did YOU do?

I did more reading and spent less time on the internet! Amazing how much time one can while away... I think the house may be cleaner too... The downtime coincided with a busy period at work though, so I didn't pine too much.

Must admit I concentrated more on my current reading pile instead of reading about all the books I should be reading or discussing.

Similar with me. I was thinking about what I would post once BGO would be up and running. I didn't doubt that for a moment. I believe in BGO and its almighty father, Bill! ;)
I checked in every time I went on the PC, hoping it would be back, though.

The original meltdown coincided with us having visitors, so I didn't have that much time anyway. Nevertheless, I checked the computer several times a day just to see if it was back. Once they'd gone, I did manage to get some more reading done and clean the house up. I also managed to get to the theatre to see The Vortex in Manchester. It's amazing to find another world exists outside BGO, but Oh its so nice to have BGO back. Hello everybody :)

I didn't do any reading, as I couldn't work up any enthusiasm for this book (http://www.bookgrouponline.com/forum/showpost.html?p=21855&postcount=327).
I did some knitting, spent more time than usual posting on Ship Of Fools (http://forum.ship-of-fools.com/), checked the BGO site every time I came near the computer, and tried to keep in touch with some of the BGO members via our Group page on MySpace. I also tried to find other online bookgroups, but none were as enjoyable as BGO :)

Oh, and entertained the plumber far too often - You don't want to know!! :(

More reading and writing, I suppose, although I did find myself feeling twitchy during adverts or less interesting TV programmes, since that would often be a time when I'd hoik the laptop up from my feet and quickly log in to see if there was anything new. It didn't really make me realise what a tempting distraction BGO could be since I'd already appreciated that when my lapstopped last summer for 5 weeks!

Well I didn't notice it had gone at first but when MFJ pointed it out to me I sat and paniced! I'd read a book for the first time in weeks and was trying to find the time to come and write about it. And then I spent far too much time complaining to MFJ that it had gone and being obsessive about checking the MySpace group for updates...

I've also been busy at work, so it just meant I had to work when I sat down at the PC instead of BGO-ing!
I did check back in every time I started up, and I found the "serious failure" page so sad!
In the real world, I went to the ballet for the first time in my life (the Nutcracker - lovely) , and I also went to see the Scottish Parliament building.

I'm afraid to say I hadn't noticed it had gone until I got an email saying it was back. But then it *is* half term and I *have* been away so I don't get on the computer much anyway at times like these anyway. Also, my usual round of regular haunts get taken over by CBeebies, SuperClubs and the like as the sprogs take over the keyboard.

(Why oh why did I teach my almost three year old basic computer skills and let her know that sites with her favourite tv characters on existed? Didn't I have enough of a fight for the computer with the older two??)

and being obsessive about checking the MySpace group for updates...

I did try to find out whether or not there was somewhere on line that might say what was going on - and I found a page on MySpace, but it didn't seem current and I didn't find any news about what was going on. Maybe I didn't delve far enough though, because when I first googled BookGroupOnline and followed through a few of the leads it didn't take me long to come across one contributor's real name - just one site leading to another - and that did feel like lurking.

I spent my time in the office doing some work instead of reading BGO!

Maybe you could post a link to the group page, Meg. That way, if something happens again, at least most of us can still get in touch somehow.

Here is BookGroup Online(Bill) (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=130024311&MyToken=104e5c53-7e55-4c6c-8767-d1c54b66e648)'s page, and here is the BGO Group (http://groups.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=groups.groupProfile&groupID=104418482&Mytoken=6CC2EA00-DFDC-41BB-870C6121205E792265960360) page.
Neither of these links will be any good here if the site breaks down again, so keep them somewhere safe!

I had not been online for a couple of days before the crash, so I too was very confused when I found the serious fault message. Despite checking to see if we were back each time I put the computer on (and checking the myspace for updates), I'm afraid to say I absconded to another similar forum where I post spasmodically.

I'm very pleased BGO is back though as I feel much more at home here, rather than there!

I've been off work with 'flu for the last two weeks and only mustered the energy to check in a coupl of days ago - consequently missed all the fuss... I'm down to 500 posts - waaaaa! Well done to Bill for making it all work again!

Welcome to the club, LucyB. We'll just have to post and post and post. I have no doubt that we will all be back to our old numbers soon. :D

I actually did some work for once. Not an experience I'd care to repeat.
