It's finally OVER! Now, if that isn't cause for celebration I don't know what is. I wouldn't be surprised if I hear fireworks tonight, seeing how people in Florida seem to set them off for everything. Did you know, that even with the past two years of record hurricane seasons, the percentage of people moving into the state is still up? I can not wait to move out of Florida!

Glad to hear that, Carla. It's certainly looked pretty grim from what we've seen on news reports over here. I'm intrigued by one aspect of this, though.
The European perspective has generally been frustration with the American government for refusing to sign up to undertakings for the reduction of greenhouse gases. President Bush recently seems to have admitted that global warming does actually exist, but won't do anything about it within American regulations, only offer to help other nations reduce their own emissions.
With the unusually severe weather and the huge cost that this has brought to America (tragically far more than simply financial), is that generally being linked with global warming in the US and has there been any obvious change in the public mood towards wanting to do something about it?

Well, David, I needed some help for this one (I'm not as smart as you must think me, LOL). Anyway not to make this thread a politician bashing party, but...

Interesting articles, Carla - thanks for searching them out! They were reasonably balanced, too, so no one-sided politician-bashing! At least it is being talked about, though I suppose the political divide is fairly predictable with Kennedy weighing-in for the environmental lobby. I wonder if that's the case with most Democrats?
Whatever happens, it will take a long time, so it probably is best to get out of Florida! (Given my 'guess' at what you look like on another thread, perhaps you're destined to head for Boston!)
